Babies are people too! I seem to remember a family named Daub who were enamored of a Disney song. The name they chose for their son was ... Zip-A-Dee-Do (Zip-A-Dee-Do Daub)! Poor kid!
Also remember a woman named Ima Hogg, who apparently had a sister named Ura.
    Thanks for an entertaining page.

Great lens! I enjoyed reading all the weird names... it's amazing what people choose for their kids! A name doesn't have to be outlandish to be unique, after all, I haven't met too many other girls named Rosemary - at least not in my generation!

They were talking about this very same subject on the radio recently and one particular family was singled out because they wanted to name their child "Spatule" which is french for "Spatula". Imagine going around with a name like that? Eventually the name was refused by the authorities that approve names. We never did find out what the child was eventually named. In any case, I thought your lens was very interesting and thank you for accepting my yogurt lens into Chez Squid:)

I don't know why some parents go out of their way to name their kids something they might get beat up in school for.lol. I understand though because one of my friends named his son "SIX" because that's how many kids he wants to have.:)

Two items: My sister named her firstborn son, Eon Atom. Of course, most people heard "Ian Adam" and still thought it was odd, back in small-town, USA in the late 1980's. When he truned 16, one day he came home from school and said "Mom? From now on - my name's Bob, okay? Just Bob."

The second was a story I had heard of a woman who named her child "Nosmoking."(pronounced 'nahz moe king'). When telling the story of the baby naming she recounted. When he came out, I was SO excited. And it was like the name was RIGHT there, clear as can be. A sign from God." (Coincidentally, there was also an actual sign ON the wall in the hospital, which read....No Smoking.").

I've had a common first and last name, it's no fun going to University when there are 5 people with the same name in the directory. 5*, hope you can visit my lenses!

I often wonder how much teasing/bullying some of these kids will get... On the positive side, if their parents are celebrities, then at least they can afford good therapy! Did you hear that Chris Martin is a fan of the name 'Chewbacca' for a kid? :/

Here in Panama we have a lot of ships with the name "Evergreen" written in large letters on the side that transit through the Panama Canal (Evergreen operates one of the largest container fleets in the world). So, you guessed it. . . there's a good number of people named "Evergreen".

Awesome lens. Very strange international laws. Stranger than the names. I 've always been partial to odd names.

Given how much humans apply nicknames and use online handles, unusual given names don't seem so far off. And then you have the countries that are passing bans on unusual names... which is weirder?

I remember reading a letter from my Aunt when she was thinking about baby names...geez she was worried about April, thinking kids would shorten it to Apey. These folks are a tinge off their rockers! Lensrolled to my SPODD (http://www.spodd.com) lens.

At least celebs only move in circles where the other kids all have bizarre names. Imagine if one of the kids wants to be an accountant when he grows up... I wonder if Steve Jobs would give young Apple Paltrow Martin a job? (All puns intended)
